Safety & moderation

Safety and moderation in PregnancyPal describes how community content is kept in order: you can delete your own posts and comments, community moderators and admins can remove content, and concerns are raised through the app's Feedback or Contact page. Moderation here is rules-based and human — there is no automated AI moderation.

Communities work best when people feel safe to share. Being honest about how moderation actually functions is part of that. PregnancyPal keeps it simple and human: you control your own content, moderators and admins can remove content, and if something troubles you, you reach the team through Feedback or Contact rather than a one-tap report button. Knowing exactly how it works helps you participate with confidence.

What you can do for safety

  • Delete your own posts and comments at any time if you change your mind or want to remove something.
  • Curate your Feed by leaving any community that isn't a good fit.
  • Search before engaging so you understand a group's tone via post content, tags, and author names.
  • Report a concern through the app's Feedback or Contact page (there is no in-app report button on posts).
  • Choose what you share, since posting is attributed to your display name and is not anonymous.
  • Rely on moderators and admins to remove content that breaks community guidelines.

How moderation actually works

  1. You manage your own content. Open any of your posts or comments and delete it — you always control what you've shared.
  2. Authors and admins can remove content. The original author and community moderators or admins can delete posts and comments.
  3. There is no automated AI moderation. Content isn't scanned or filtered by an algorithm; moderation is rules-based and carried out by people.
  4. To report a problem, use Feedback or Contact. Since there's no per-post report button, raise concerns about a post, comment, or member through the app's Feedback or Contact page.
  5. Follow the community guidelines. Be kind, stay on topic, respect privacy, and avoid sharing others' personal information.

Examples

  • Removing your own comment — You reconsider a comment and delete it yourself; it disappears from the post's flat comment list.
  • Reporting a troubling post — You come across a post that worries you. Because there's no report button on the card, you open the app's Feedback or Contact page and describe what you saw so a person can review it.
  • An admin clears a rule-breaking post — A post that violates the guidelines is removed by a community moderator or admin, keeping the group's space respectful.

Tips

  • Protect personal details. Posting isn't anonymous and isn't AI-filtered, so think before sharing names, locations, or sensitive information about yourself or others.
  • Use Feedback or Contact for anything serious. That's the path to a human who can act — don't wait for an automated system that doesn't exist.
  • Delete rather than dwell. If you regret a post, removing it yourself is the fastest fix.
  • Be generous and specific in good posts; be calm in disagreement. Human moderation works best in a community that self-regulates with kindness.
  • Take health claims to your provider. Treat strong medical assertions from members with healthy skepticism.

Frequently asked questions

How do I report a post or comment?

Use the app's Feedback or Contact page to describe the content and why it concerns you. There is no per-post "report" button in the community, so this is the route to a person who can review it.

Does PregnancyPal use AI to moderate content?

No. There is no AI or automated moderation. Content is not algorithmically scanned or filtered; moderation is rules-based and handled by people — you for your own content, and moderators or admins for the community.

Who can remove a post or comment?

You can remove your own posts and comments. Community moderators and admins, and the original authors, can also delete content.

Is my posting anonymous, so I'm protected?

No. Posting is attributed to your display name and avatar — it is not anonymous. Your privacy comes from choosing what to share, not from hiding your identity.

What are the community guidelines?

Be respectful, stay on topic for the group, protect privacy (yours and others'), and don't post harmful or abusive content. Moderators and admins enforce these by removing content that breaks them.

How quickly are reports handled?

Reports go through Feedback or Contact to a human, so timing depends on the team's review rather than an instant automated action. Use that channel for anything that needs attention.

Is the community a safe place to discuss health?

It can be supportive, but members aren't clinicians and content isn't verified or AI-screened. Share carefully and bring any health decisions to your provider.

What this feature does NOT do

  • It has no AI moderation. Content is not automatically scanned, filtered, or flagged; moderation is rules-based and human.
  • It has no in-app report button. Concerns are raised through the Feedback or Contact page, not a one-tap report on each post.
  • It does not make posting anonymous. Your display name is attached to everything you share.
  • It does not verify members or content, guarantee safety, or screen for medical accuracy.
  • It does not provide medical advice or replace any part of your prenatal care.

PregnancyPal communities are peer support, not medical advice and not a substitute for professional care. If a post, a member, or a health claim concerns you, report it via Feedback or Contact and bring any medical question to your healthcare provider — only a qualified clinician can advise on your situation.
