Appointment scheduling

Appointment scheduling in PregnancyPal is a simple organizer for your prenatal visits — add a visit with its type, provider, location, date, and time; see upcoming and past visits; and reschedule or cancel as plans change. It's a personal organizer, not a medical scheduling service or a substitute for your provider's care plan.

Pregnancy means a lot of appointments — checkups, scans, lab tests, specialist visits, and classes. Keeping them straight in your head is hard. PregnancyPal gives you one tidy place to record every visit and see what's coming up.

The app organizes your appointments; it doesn't book them or decide your medical schedule. Your provider sets your actual visit plan. PregnancyPal helps you remember and prepare for the visits your care team arranges.

What you can do with appointments​

  • Add an appointment with a title, type, provider, location, date, time, duration, and notes.
  • Choose a type — checkup, ultrasound, test, specialist, or class.
  • See Upcoming Appointments color-coded by type, with a status badge.
  • Read status at a glance — "Today," "In X days," or "Overdue."
  • Reschedule an appointment to a new date or time.
  • Cancel an appointment, with an optional reason.
  • Review Past Appointments marked "Completed" or "Cancelled."
  • See an Appointment Summary with totals and a Recommended Schedule based on your pregnancy stage.

How to add an appointment​

  1. Open appointments: Dashboard → Appointments (the /appointments screen).
  2. Tap "Add Appointment" to open the dialog.
  3. Fill in the details:
    • Title — a short name, like "20-week scan."
    • Type — pick from the dropdown (checkup, ultrasound, test, specialist, class).
    • Provider — who you're seeing.
    • Location — clinic, hospital, or address.
    • Date and Time.
    • Duration — defaults to 30 minutes; adjust if needed.
    • Notes — anything to remember, like "bring insurance card."
    • Reminder — toggle it on to be reminded before the visit.
  4. Save — the appointment appears in your Upcoming list.

How to reschedule or cancel​

  1. Find the appointment in your Upcoming Appointments list.
  2. Tap "Reschedule" to pick a new date or time, then save.
  3. Or tap "Cancel" to call it off — you can add an optional reason.
  4. Check Past Appointments later to see it marked "Completed" or "Cancelled."

Examples​

  • Booking your anatomy scan — You add "20-week ultrasound," choose type "ultrasound," set the provider and hospital, and pick the date. It shows up in purple with an "In 12 days" badge.
  • Moving a checkup — Work runs late, so you tap "Reschedule" on your pink checkup card and move it to the next morning. The status badge updates automatically.
  • Cancelling a class — You can't make a prenatal class, so you tap "Cancel," add the reason "family conflict," and it moves to Past Appointments as "Cancelled."

Tips​

  • Use clear titles. "GTT lab test" is easier to scan than "appointment 3."
  • Pick the right type so the color-coding helps you spot scans, tests, and checkups at a glance.
  • Add the location and notes while you remember them — your future self will thank you.
  • Lean on the status badges. "Overdue" is a useful nudge to follow up if a visit slipped.
  • Treat the Recommended Schedule as general. It's a stage-based suggestion, not your provider's actual plan.
  • Keep duration realistic so reminders give you enough lead time.

Frequently asked questions​

Does PregnancyPal book appointments with my clinic?​

No. It records appointments you've arranged; it does not contact your provider or book anything. You still schedule visits through your clinic.

What do the colors mean?​

Each type has a color so you can scan your list quickly — ultrasound is purple, test is blue, specialist is green, checkup is pink, and class is yellow.

It's a general, stage-based suggestion of typical prenatal visits, shown in the sidebar. It is not your personal care plan — follow the schedule your provider gives you.

Can I add a non-medical appointment?​

You can add anything you like, but the types are designed around prenatal care. Use "class" or a clear title for things like a birth-prep class.

What happens when I cancel?​

The appointment moves to Past Appointments marked "Cancelled," and your optional reason is saved with it for your own reference.

Will the app tell me which appointments I need?​

No. It organizes the appointments you enter and shows a general recommended schedule. Your provider decides which visits and tests you actually need.

Can I export my appointments?​

Yes — your appointments are included in the health report PDF you can share with your provider. See export to PDF.

What this feature does NOT do​

  • Does not book, confirm, or contact your clinic or provider.
  • Does not set your medical care plan — the Recommended Schedule is general, not personal.
  • Does not diagnose, treat, or predict anything about your pregnancy.
  • Does not guarantee you won't miss a visit — always rely on your clinic's confirmations too.
  • Does not replace your provider's instructions about which appointments and tests you need.

PregnancyPal's appointment tools are an organizer, not medical scheduling advice. The visits and tests you need are decided by your care team — always follow your healthcare provider's schedule and instructions, and contact them directly with any concern.
