Your profile

Your profile in PregnancyPal is the page at /profile where you keep your own personal details — name, phone, address, emergency contact, bio, date of birth, and a profile photo — and edit them whenever you like.

Your profile is the "about me" of your account. It is separate from your pregnancy details (those live in your pregnancy profile) and separate from your day-to-day tracking. Think of it as the place that holds the basics about you as a person: how to reach you, who to contact in an emergency, and a friendly photo if you want one.

Nothing here is required to use the app. You can fill in as much or as little as feels right, change it any time, and leave fields blank. Everything you enter is yours, tied to your account, and editable on the same screen.

What you can do with your profile​

  • Set your name so the app and any reports greet you the way you prefer.
  • Add a phone number for your own records and reference.
  • Save your address in one place.
  • Name an emergency contact — a partner, family member, or friend you'd want reached if needed.
  • Write a short bio — a free-text note about yourself, in your own words.
  • Record your date of birth.
  • Upload a profile photo (your avatar), stored through the app's file service.
  • Edit, save, or cancel changes with clear buttons, so nothing is saved until you say so.

How to edit your profile​

  1. Open your profile: go to /profile from the account menu.
  2. Tap Edit: the fields become editable.
  3. Update any field — name, phone, address, emergency contact, bio, or date of birth. Fill in only what you want.
  4. Add or change your photo: choose an image to upload as your avatar. It's stored through the app's file service and shown on your profile.
  5. Tap Save to keep your changes, or Cancel to discard them and leave everything as it was.
  6. Review: your updated details appear on the profile page right away.

Examples​

  • First-time setup — After signing up, you open /profile, tap Edit, type your name, add your due-date-era phone number, and upload a recent photo. You skip the address for now. Tap Save — your name now appears across the app.
  • Adding an emergency contact later — A few weeks in, you decide to add your partner as your emergency contact. You open the profile, tap Edit, fill in their name and number, and Save. The rest of your details stay untouched.
  • Changing your mind — You start editing your bio, decide you'd rather not, and tap Cancel. Nothing is saved, and your previous bio remains exactly as it was.

Tips​

  • Fill in what helps you. None of these fields are mandatory. Your emergency contact and phone number are the most useful to keep current.
  • A clear photo is optional. The avatar is purely for your own experience inside the app — skip it if you'd rather not.
  • Keep your emergency contact current. If your support person changes during pregnancy, update it so your records reflect reality.
  • Use Cancel freely. Changes aren't saved until you tap Save, so you can explore the edit screen without worrying about committing anything.
  • Your date of birth is for your records. It is not used to make any medical prediction or assessment.
  • Update before exporting. If you plan to generate a report, set your name first so it reads correctly.

Frequently asked questions​

Are any profile fields required?​

No. You can leave every field blank and still use PregnancyPal. Fill in only what's useful to you.

Where is my profile photo stored?​

Your avatar is uploaded and stored through the app's file service, then displayed on your profile. You can replace it any time by editing your profile and choosing a new image.

Is my profile the same as my pregnancy profile?​

No. Your profile holds personal details about you (name, contact, photo, bio, date of birth). Your pregnancy profile holds pregnancy-specific information like your due date. They are separate pages.

Who can see my profile details?​

Your profile details belong to your account. They are not posted publicly anywhere in the app. Community features are separate and have their own privacy controls.

Can I change my email here?​

No. Your sign-in email is shown read-only on the security page, not on the profile page, because it's tied to how you sign in with Google.

What happens to my profile if I delete my account?​

Your personal information, including your profile fields and photo, is removed as part of account deletion. See the delete account page for the full list and the retention policy.

Does editing my profile change my tracking data?​

No. Editing personal details has no effect on your weight, mood, symptoms, appointments, or any other tracked information.

What this feature does NOT do​

  • It does not verify your details. The app stores what you type; it does not check your address, phone number, or emergency contact for accuracy.
  • It does not contact your emergency contact for you. Saving a contact is a record only — PregnancyPal never calls, texts, or alerts anyone on your behalf.
  • It does not use your date of birth or any profile field to make a medical or risk assessment.
  • It does not share your profile with your healthcare provider automatically.
  • It is not a substitute for the records your clinic keeps. Your provider's notes remain the authoritative source.
