Theme & appearance

The theme customizer in PregnancyPal is a Theme and Appearance dialog where you choose how the app looks — appearance mode, accent color, border radius, UI scaling, font size, and panel background — with one tap to reset everything to defaults.

How an app feels matters, especially one you may open every day for months. Maybe you prefer dark mode at night, larger text for easy reading, or a softer accent color that feels calmer. The theme customizer lets you make PregnancyPal yours, with simple visual selectors rather than fiddly menus.

Your choices are saved on your device and synced to your account, so the look you set follows you when you sign in on another device. Nothing here changes your data — only how it's presented.

What you can do with the theme customizer​

  • Appearance — choose Light, Dark, or System (matches your device).
  • Accent color — pick from Pink, Rose, Violet, Purple, Indigo, Blue, Teal, or Emerald.
  • Border Radius — set corner roundness: None, Small, Medium, Large, or Full.
  • UI Scaling — size the whole interface: 90%, 95%, 100%, 105%, or 110%.
  • Font Size — set text size: Small, Medium, or Large.
  • Panel Background — choose Solid or Translucent.
  • Reset to defaults — return every option to its original setting with one button.

Selectors are card-based and visual, so you can see what you're choosing before you commit.

How to customize your theme​

  1. Open the theme dialog: tap the appearance or theme control in PregnancyPal.
  2. Pick an appearance mode: Light, Dark, or System.
  3. Choose an accent color from the eight options.
  4. Set the border radius to your preferred corner style.
  5. Adjust UI scaling and font size until the interface feels comfortable to read and tap.
  6. Choose a panel background: Solid for crisp panels, Translucent for a softer, layered look.
  7. Done — your choices apply right away, save on your device, and sync to your account. Tap Reset to defaults any time to start over.

Examples​

  • Cozy night mode — You set Appearance to Dark, accent to Rose, and Font Size to Large, so late-night check-ins are easy on the eyes.
  • Crisp and compact — You prefer a tighter look, so you choose Border Radius: Small, UI Scaling: 95%, and Panel Background: Solid for a clean, businesslike feel.
  • Follow my phone — You set Appearance to System and accent to Teal. The app switches between light and dark automatically with your device, and your teal accent and other choices sync when you sign in on your tablet.

Tips​

  • Use System if you switch day/night. Appearance: System lets the app follow your device automatically, so you don't toggle it yourself.
  • Bump font size and scaling together for the most readable result if smaller text is hard to see.
  • Translucent looks soft; Solid looks sharp. Try both panel backgrounds — it's a quick way to change the whole mood.
  • Your accent is everywhere. The accent color tints buttons and highlights across the app, so pick one you'll enjoy seeing often.
  • Reset is your safety net. Experiment freely — one tap on Reset to defaults brings everything back.
  • Changes are cosmetic. None of these settings affect your tracked data or reports.

Do my theme choices sync across devices?​

Yes. Your choices are saved on your device and synced to your account, so the appearance you set follows you when you sign in elsewhere.

What does the System appearance option do?​

System matches your device's light or dark setting automatically. When your phone switches to dark mode at night, PregnancyPal follows.

Which accent colors are available?​

Eight: Pink, Rose, Violet, Purple, Indigo, Blue, Teal, and Emerald. The accent tints highlights and interactive elements throughout the app.

Can I make the text larger?​

Yes. Use Font Size (Small, Medium, Large) and, if you want everything bigger, raise UI Scaling up to 110%.

What's the difference between font size and UI scaling?​

Font Size adjusts text. UI Scaling resizes the whole interface — text, spacing, and controls together. Combine them for the most comfortable result.

How do I undo my changes?​

Tap Reset to defaults in the dialog. Every option returns to its original setting at once.

Will changing the theme affect my data?​

No. Theme settings only change how the app looks. Your weight, mood, symptoms, appointments, and reports are unaffected.

What this feature does NOT do​

  • It does not change any of your tracked data — it only affects appearance.
  • It does not offer colors or sizes beyond the listed options (eight accents, five scaling steps, three font sizes, and so on).
  • It does not create per-page or per-section themes — your choices apply across the whole app.
  • It does not carry over to exported reports as custom styling; the Health Report PDF has its own consistent format.
  • It is not a health or accessibility assessment. Larger text and higher contrast can improve readability, but the customizer makes no medical claims.
