Deleting your account

Deleting your account in PregnancyPal permanently removes your data from the app, and the public /delete-account page lists exactly what gets deleted across every category along with the data retention policy.

Whatever your reason — your pregnancy journey has reached its chapter's end, your needs have changed, or you simply want to move on — you should be able to leave cleanly and know precisely what happens to your information. This page is here to make that calm and clear. No guilt, no dark patterns, no buried buttons.

Below is what gets removed, how the retention policy works, and the steps to delete your account when you're ready.

What you can do on the deletion page

  • Read exactly what gets deleted, organized by category, before you decide.
  • Understand the data retention policy — what's removed immediately and what's held briefly.
  • Start the deletion from the Danger Zone on your security page when you're ready.
  • Step back at any point — the confirmation dialog lists everything before anything is removed.

What gets deleted

The /delete-account page groups the removal into clear categories:

  • Personal info — your profile details.
  • Pregnancy data — your pregnancy profile and related records.
  • Health tracking — vitals, weight, mood, symptoms, and other logged data.
  • Period & fertility — cycle, ovulation, and fertility tracking.
  • Diet & exercise — meal plans, nutrition, and activity records.
  • Other — remaining account-associated data.

Data retention policy

  • Account and personal data are deleted immediately when you confirm.
  • An encrypted backup is retained for about 30 days, then automatically purged. This window exists for safety and recovery integrity.
  • Anonymized analytics are retained — these contain no personal identifiers tied to you.

How to delete your account

  1. Read this page first: review the categories above so you know what will be removed.
  2. Open your security page: go to /profile/security.
  3. Find the Danger Zone: scroll to the Delete Account button.
  4. Open the confirmation dialog: it lists exactly what will be removed.
  5. Confirm only when you're sure. Your account and personal data are deleted immediately.
  6. Know the backup window: an encrypted backup is held for roughly 30 days, then auto-purged.

Examples

  • A complete journey — Months after your baby arrives, you decide you no longer need the app. You read the deletion page, open the Danger Zone, confirm in the dialog, and your data is removed. The encrypted backup auto-purges about 30 days later.
  • Double-checking first — You want to delete your account but aren't sure what happens to your tracking history. You read the categories, see that health tracking and fertility data are listed, and feel confident before confirming.
  • Changing your mind — You open the confirmation dialog, read the list, and realize you'd like to generate a Health Report PDF first. You close the dialog, create your report, and decide later.

Tips

  • Export first if you want a keepsake. Generate a Health Report PDF before deleting if you'd like to keep a copy of your tracked data.
  • Read the dialog fully. It lists everything that will be removed — a final, honest checkpoint.
  • Understand the 30-day window. Your visible data goes immediately; an encrypted backup is held briefly for integrity, then purged automatically.
  • Take your time. There's no countdown and no pressure. Delete only when you're ready.
  • Deletion is permanent. Once the backup purges, the data cannot be recovered, so be sure.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete my account?

Open the Danger Zone on your security page, tap Delete Account, and confirm in the dialog. The dialog lists exactly what will be removed before anything happens.

What exactly gets deleted?

Your personal info, pregnancy data, health tracking, period and fertility data, diet and exercise records, and other account-associated data. The /delete-account page spells out each category.

Is my data gone immediately?

Your account and personal data are deleted immediately on confirmation. An encrypted backup is retained for about 30 days for integrity, then automatically purged.

What is the encrypted backup for?

It's a safety and recovery-integrity measure held briefly after deletion. It's encrypted, and it auto-purges after roughly 30 days without any action from you.

What are anonymized analytics?

Aggregate, de-identified usage data with no personal identifiers tied to you. They are retained to understand general app usage, not to track you personally.

Can I get my data back after deleting?

No. Once the encrypted backup purges after about 30 days, the data cannot be recovered. If you want a copy, generate a Health Report PDF before deleting.

Will deleting my account affect my community posts?

Account deletion removes your account-associated data. Community features have their own handling and moderation — see the community safety page for details.

What this feature does NOT do

  • It does not keep your personal data after deletion — your account and personal data are removed immediately, and the encrypted backup auto-purges after about 30 days.
  • It does not let you recover data once the backup window closes. Deletion is permanent.
  • It does not delete data without a clear confirmation dialog listing what will be removed.
  • It does not notify your healthcare provider, partner, or anyone else that you deleted your account.
  • It is not a medical action. Deleting your account ends your use of the app; it has no effect on your prenatal care.

PregnancyPal is a personal organizing companion, not medical advice. Deleting your account removes your data from the app and does not replace or affect your medical care. For anything related to your health, contact your healthcare provider directly.
