The PregnancyPal companion extension

The PregnancyPal companion extension is a Chrome browser add-on that puts a quick slice of PregnancyPal — your pregnancy progress, a food-safety lookup, and fast health entry — into your browser toolbar, paired with your PregnancyPal account.

If you spend your day in a browser, the companion extension keeps PregnancyPal a single click away. It's not a replacement for the main app — it's a lightweight helper for the things you reach for most: checking how far along you are, looking up whether a food is generally considered safe in pregnancy, and jotting down a quick weight, mood, or symptom without switching tabs. Click the toolbar icon and a small popup opens; deeper settings live on its options page.

The extension is built for Chrome. It complements the web and Android apps and stays in sync with your account.

What you can do with the extension

  • See pregnancy progress at a glance — week X of 40, your trimester, and days remaining to your due date, with a quick link to open the full app.
  • Look up food safety — type a food and see a status (Safe, Caution, Avoid, or Unknown), with your recent lookups remembered.
  • Log quick entries — weight, mood, and symptoms, plus exercise and nutrition tips.
  • Reach settings, sign-out, help, and the version from a More tab.
  • Pair with your account using Chrome's built-in sign-in, set notification preferences and quiet hours, and configure sync on the options page.
  • Get reminder alarms and a right-click menu (for example, "Check food safety") handled quietly in the background.

How to set up the companion extension

  1. Add the PregnancyPal companion extension to Chrome. It's a companion add-on for the Chrome browser.
  2. Click the toolbar icon (you may want to pin it so it's always visible).
  3. Open the options page — from the popup's More tab or by right-clicking the icon and choosing Options.
  4. Link your account using Chrome's sign-in (Chrome Identity), so the extension knows whose pregnancy progress and data to show — details in Options & settings.
  5. Set your notification preferences and quiet hours on the options page, if you want reminders.
  6. Open the popup and explore its four tabs — see The popup.

Examples

  • Quick progress check — Mid-morning you click the toolbar icon and the Home tab shows "Week 22 of 40, second trimester, 126 days to go", with a link to open the full app for more.
  • Food safety at lunch — Deciding on a sandwich, you type a soft cheese into the Food Safety tab and get a Caution status, then confirm with your provider before deciding.
  • Logging without leaving your work — You note a quick weight in the Health tab between meetings, and it syncs to your account so it's there in the app later.

Tips

  • Pin the extension so the toolbar icon is always one click away.
  • Link your account first — most of the value (your real progress and synced entries) depends on signing in via Chrome Identity on the options page.
  • Treat the food-safety list as a starting point, not the final word — it's a curated, non-exhaustive reference.
  • Use the popup for quick things and the full app for depth — the extension links straight to the app when you need more.
  • Set quiet hours so reminders don't arrive at bad times — see Options & settings.

Frequently asked questions

Which browsers does the extension support?

It's built for Chrome — it's the PregnancyPal companion extension for the Chrome browser.

Is the extension a replacement for the app?

No. It's a companion — a lightweight helper for quick progress checks, food-safety lookups, and fast entries. The full experience lives in the web app at pregnancypal.aoneahsan.com and the Android app.

How does the extension know my pregnancy details?

You link your PregnancyPal account using Chrome's sign-in (Chrome Identity) on the options page. Once paired, it shows your real progress and syncs your quick entries — see Options & settings.

Is the food-safety list a medical database?

No. It's a curated, non-exhaustive reference meant as a helpful starting point. When in doubt about a food, confirm with your provider.

Do I need the app installed to use the extension?

You need a PregnancyPal account to get personalized progress and sync. You sign in to that account from the extension's options page; you don't need the Android app specifically.

Where can I download it?

It's the PregnancyPal companion extension for Chrome. We won't list a store link we can't verify here — add it to Chrome as the companion add-on for PregnancyPal.

What this feature does NOT do

  • It is not a standalone medical tool or a full replacement for the app — it's a companion helper.
  • The food-safety list is curated and non-exhaustive, not a medical database, and can return "Unknown".
  • It does not diagnose, give medical advice, or confirm any food is safe for your specific pregnancy.
  • It does not monitor your health in the background or contact anyone on your behalf.
  • It is for Chrome, and we make no claim about availability on other browsers.

PregnancyPal is a companion, not a clinician. When in doubt about a food, symptom, or anything affecting your pregnancy, contact your healthcare provider or your local emergency number. This extension does not provide medical advice.
