The popup

The popup is the small window that opens when you click the PregnancyPal extension icon in Chrome — it has four tabs (Home, Food Safety, Health, and More) that give you a quick slice of PregnancyPal without leaving your browser.

The popup is designed for speed. You click the toolbar icon, glance at what you need, maybe log a quick entry or check a food, and get back to what you were doing. Each of its four tabs handles one job, and a link to the full app is always close when you want more depth. Here's what each tab does.

What you can do with each tab

  • Home — see your pregnancy progress: week X of 40, your trimester, days remaining to your due date, and a quick link to open the full app.
  • Food Safety — type a food and see a safety status (Safe, Caution, Avoid, or Unknown); your recent lookups are remembered for quick re-checking.
  • Health — quick-entry for weight, mood, and symptoms, plus exercise and nutrition tips.
  • More — settings, sign out, help, and the extension version.

How to use the popup

  1. Click the PregnancyPal icon in your Chrome toolbar (pin it first if it's hidden in the extensions menu).
  2. Land on Home to see your current week, trimester, and countdown to your due date.
  3. Switch to Food Safety and type a food to check its status; your recent lookups stay listed.
  4. Open Health to log a quick weight, mood, or symptom, or to read an exercise or nutrition tip.
  5. Use More to reach settings, get help, check the version, or sign out.
  6. Tap the open-the-app link on Home whenever you need the full PregnancyPal experience.

Examples

  • Morning glance — You click the icon, Home shows "Week 18 of 40, second trimester, 154 days to go", and you close the popup, reassured, in two seconds.
  • Checking a food before you eat it — In Food Safety you type a deli meat and get an Avoid status; it joins your recent lookups so you can re-check it later without retyping.
  • Logging a symptom fast — Feeling queasy, you open Health, log a nausea symptom, and read the nutrition tip that appears — all without opening a new tab.

Tips

  • Home is your at-a-glance dashboard — use it for the quick "how far along am I" check.
  • Your recent food lookups are remembered, so foods you check often are one glance away.
  • Use Health for speed, the app for depth. Quick entries sync to your account; detailed tracking lives in the full app.
  • The open-app link on Home is the fastest jump to the complete experience.
  • Food Safety can say "Unknown" — that's an honest "we don't have this listed", not "it's fine". Confirm with your provider when unsure.

Frequently asked questions

What do the food-safety statuses mean?

Food Safety returns one of four statuses — Safe, Caution, Avoid, or Unknown — as a general, curated reference. "Unknown" means the food isn't in the list, not that it's safe. The list is non-exhaustive, so confirm with your provider when in doubt.

Does the Home tab show my real due date?

Yes, once your account is linked. Home shows your week of 40, trimester, and days remaining based on your PregnancyPal profile. Link your account first via Options & settings.

Do quick entries in the Health tab sync to the app?

Yes. Logging weight, mood, or symptoms in the popup records them to your account, so they appear in the full app too.

Are my recent food lookups private?

They're remembered for your convenience in the extension. Your account and data are protected by your sign-in — see Account security.

What's in the More tab?

Settings, sign out, help, and the extension version. For full settings — account linking, notification preferences, quiet hours, and sync — open the options page described in Options & settings.

Can I use the popup without signing in?

The food-safety lookup is generally usable, but personalized progress (Home) and synced entries (Health) depend on linking your account. Sign in from the options page to get the full benefit.

What are the exercise and nutrition tips in the Health tab?

They're short, general pregnancy-wellness suggestions shown alongside quick-entry — light prompts to move and to eat well. They're general guidance, not a personalized exercise or diet plan, and they don't account for your specific medical situation. For anything tailored to you, talk to your provider.

How do I get the full picture instead of just the popup?

Use the open-the-app link on the Home tab, or go to pregnancypal.aoneahsan.com. The popup is a quick helper; your full history, charts, and detailed tracking live in the web and Android apps.

What this feature does NOT do

  • Food Safety is a curated, non-exhaustive reference, not a medical database; "Unknown" does not mean "safe".
  • The popup does not diagnose, give medical advice, or confirm any food is safe for your specific pregnancy.
  • It is a quick helper, not the full app — detailed tracking and history live in the web and Android apps.
  • It does not monitor your health in the background or alert anyone based on what you log.

PregnancyPal is a companion, not a clinician. When in doubt about a food, symptom, or anything affecting your pregnancy, contact your healthcare provider or your local emergency number. This extension does not provide medical advice.
