Options & settings

The options page is the PregnancyPal extension's full-tab settings screen — it links your account using Chrome's sign-in, lets you set notification preferences and quiet hours, and configures how the extension syncs with your PregnancyPal data.

While the popup is for quick glances, the options page is where you set the extension up properly. It opens in its own browser tab so there's room for the real settings: connecting your PregnancyPal account, deciding which reminders you get and when, and controlling sync. You'll typically visit it once to get linked, then occasionally to adjust notifications.

What you can do on the options page

  • Link your account using Chrome's built-in sign-in (Chrome Identity), so the extension knows whose progress and data to show.
  • Set notification preferences by category, choosing which kinds of reminders you want.
  • Set quiet hours so reminders don't arrive during times you've marked off.
  • Configure sync settings that govern how the extension stays current with your account.
  • Manage the connection — sign in or sign out of the linked account.

How to set up the options page

  1. Open the options page — from the popup's More tab, or by right-clicking the extension icon and choosing Options.
  2. Link your account with Chrome sign-in (Chrome Identity). This pairs the extension with your PregnancyPal account.
  3. Choose your notification categories — turn on the reminder types you want and turn off the ones you don't.
  4. Set quiet hours — pick the window when reminders should stay silent (for example, overnight).
  5. Review sync settings so the extension keeps your progress and quick entries current.
  6. Save and return to the popup — your Home tab now reflects your real pregnancy progress.

Examples

  • First-time linking — You open Options, sign in with Chrome Identity, and immediately the popup's Home tab switches from a generic view to your real week, trimester, and due-date countdown.
  • Taming reminders — You keep appointment reminders on but turn off other categories, and set quiet hours from 10pm to 7am so nothing buzzes overnight.
  • Switching accounts — On a shared computer you sign out from the options page so the next person's PregnancyPal data isn't shown.

Tips

  • Link your account before anything else — most personalized features depend on it.
  • Use quiet hours generously. If reminders ever feel intrusive, a quiet window fixes it without turning everything off.
  • Match your notification categories to what's useful, so you only get reminders you'll act on.
  • Sign out on shared or public computers so your information stays private — and review Account security.
  • Notification settings here are separate from the app's own — for the app's reminders see Push notifications.

Frequently asked questions

What is Chrome Identity sign-in?

It's Chrome's built-in account sign-in mechanism. The extension uses it to link your PregnancyPal account securely without you re-entering credentials in a separate popup, so it can show your real progress and sync your entries.

Without linking, the extension can't show your personalized pregnancy progress or sync your quick entries. Linking via Chrome Identity on the options page connects it to your PregnancyPal account.

How do quiet hours work?

You set a time window during which reminders stay silent. Notifications you've enabled won't arrive during that window, which is handy for overnight or focus times.

Are the extension's notifications the same as the app's?

They're configured separately. The options page controls the extension's reminder categories and quiet hours; the app has its own notification settings — see Push notifications.

Does sync send my data somewhere new?

Sync keeps the extension current with your existing PregnancyPal account — the same account and data you use in the web and Android apps. It isn't a separate data store.

How do I disconnect the extension from my account?

Sign out from the options page. That unlinks the account on that browser, which is the right step on shared or public computers. Keep your overall account secure with Account security.

Will the extension keep working on the web and Android apps?

Yes. Linking the extension doesn't change anything about your web or Android experience — it's the same account everywhere. Sign in on the Android app or the web app and your data is there, with the extension simply acting as an extra, browser-based window into it.

Why don't I see my progress after installing?

Almost always because the account isn't linked yet. Open the options page and sign in with Chrome Identity; the popup's Home tab will then switch from a generic view to your real week, trimester, and due-date countdown.

What this feature does NOT do

  • Linking does not create a separate account — it connects the extension to your existing PregnancyPal account via Chrome Identity.
  • The options page does not provide medical settings or advice — it's account, notification, and sync configuration only.
  • It does not guarantee reminders are delivered if Chrome or your system blocks notifications, or during your quiet hours.
  • The extension does not diagnose, monitor your pregnancy, or replace prenatal care.

PregnancyPal is a companion, not a clinician. For any medical question or concern about your pregnancy, contact your healthcare provider or your local emergency number. This extension does not provide medical advice.
